John The Tailor was founded in 1978, by an Italian master tailor Mr. Giovanni Trunzo in the heart of downtown Edmonton, City Centre. Over the decades acquired and established a reputation for excellence, quality creating contemporary bespoke/ custom made clothing and alterations for distinguished professionals.
To date John The Tailor managed and operated by master tailor Amir Haidari, who was former head/ master tailor at Harry Rosen Inc. Amir apprenticed in Tehran, Iran with a Persian master tailor who taught him the signature skills of his craft – hand stitching, cutting and pattern making for bespoke tailoring. Amir also attended tailoring and pattern- making school in Tehran, gaining the knowledge how to draft & balance the pattern for a bespoke suit base on client’s posture and silhouette specification, which is compliment the client body shape. After Amir mastering the bespoke tailoring, he opened his own custom tailor shop making top- notch, and quality bespoke and custom made suits for high- end boutiques in Tehran. Years later in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Amir got the opportunity to review and exercise the master level of tailoring with legend Italian master tailor and designer Emanuel Estellacci, who called Amir as his son.
Regards Amir’s tailoring background, since he met Mr. Giovanni Trunzo, the founder of John The Tailor, Giovanni recognized that, Amir would be the best candidate to pass him the flag after retiring himself.
